Sarah Morang and Jack Frierson of Frierson & Morang LLC

Jack Frierson and Sarah Morang earned their law degrees from the University of Georgia and have represented and advised clients in Athens, Watkinsville, Atlanta, Rome, and throughout the State of Georgia. In 2022, Jack and Sarah joined their law practices, now Frierson & Morang, LLC, to better serve the people and communities in and around Athens.

Frierson & Morang, LLC offers experienced legal advice and services for individuals, families, businesses, and non-profits. The law firm is located at the intersection of Hill Street and Milledge Avenue— near historic neighborhoods, downtown Athens, Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, and the University of Georgia.

Jack was born in Athens, Georgia and attended St. Joseph's Catholic School, Clarke Middle School, and Clarke Central High School. During his junior year of high school, he moved to Southern California to train at the Woody Blocher Tennis Academy. He graduated from San Pasqual High School in Escondido, California, in 1988 and then returned to Athens to attend the University of Georgia. Jack graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1992.

As an undergraduate at the University of Georgia, Jack was a member of the Georgia men's tennis team. His teams won two Southeastern Conference titles and advanced to the finals of the NCAA Team Championship in 1989 and 1991.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, Jack played professional tennis in France for four years and then served as the coach of a professional tennis player on the ATP World Tour. He traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Africa as a tennis player and coach. In 1997, Jack returned to the University of Georgia and served as the assistant coach to Manual Diaz on the varsity men's tennis team.  As an assistant coach, Jack helped the Georgia Bulldogs win the NCAA Men's Tennis Team Championship in 1999 and advance to the NCAA Team Championship Finals in 1997 and 1998.  He was awarded the Assistant Coach of the Year Award by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in 2000.

After his career in tennis, Jack enrolled at the University of Georgia School of Law and earned his degree in 2005. Promptly thereafter, he began practicing law in Athens and serving clients in Clarke County, Oconee County, and other surrounding counties. Jack and his wife, Sarah, live in Athens, and they have two children, Henry and Willa.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

As a student at the University of Georgia School of Law, Jack was a published writer and note editor for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. He also worked for the University of Georgia Legal Aid Clinic (now called the Western Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office) and the Center for International Trade and Security, located within the University of Georgia.

Jack became a member of the Georgia Stage Bar in 2005 and joined the law firm of Winburn, Lewis & Stolz, LLP. He was a partner in law firms Lewis, Stolz, Hurt, Frierson & Grayson, LLP and Lewis, Frierson & Grayson, LLP, before establishing his independent practice as Jack S. Frierson, P.C., in 2014.

Jack is a member of the Fiduciary Law Section of the Georgia State Bar. His current practice focuses primarily on serving clients with needs relating to estate and business planning. He works with individuals in estate manners relating to the preparation of wills, trusts, non-probate assets (such as retirement accounts and life insurance), probate and estate administration, guardianships, and conservatorships. He represents individuals and entities in business matters relating to the formation of for-profit and non-profit corporations and limited liability companies, corporate governance, business and real estate transactions, leases and other contracts, licensing, and intellectual property.

Creating last wills and testaments, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives suited to clients' wishes and circumstances. Advising clients on matters involving retirement accounts, life insurance, and jointly owned property.

About Sarah Morang

Sarah Morang

 

Sarah was born in Athens, Georgia and attended Athens Academy, where she raced sailboats throughout the southeast and played tennis locally.

Sarah attended Boston University, where she was a member of the Coed and Women's Sailing Teams and primarily studied English literature and Latin. She coached sailing at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia and in Charleston, South Carolina. She earned her B.A. in English and Classical Civilization, cum laude, in 2005. 

After graduating from Boston University, Sarah taught sailing in Maine and worked at Boston University. In 2006, she returned to Athens to attend the University of Georgia School of Law. During this time, she raced J22 sailboat throughout the southeast with her father and brother.

Sarah lives in Athens with her husband, Woody. She is a member of Lake Lanier Sailing Club in Flowery Branch, Georgia. She serves on the board of the Athens Nurses Clinic, which provides free healthcare to the Athens area’s low and no-income residents. She enjoys time spent hiking, gardening, and reading. 

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Sarah earned her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2009, cum laude, after receiving the Attorneys Title Guaranty Scholarship and the Georgia Bar Association’s Real Property Section Award. While in law school, she clerked at the Elderly Legal Assistance Program and Russell T. Quarterman, P.C., and other firms in the Athens area.

Sarah became a member of the Georgia Bar in 2009 and joined Russell T. Quarterman, P.C. She was a partner in the firm Quarterman, Hodson & Morang, P.C. before establishing her practice Sarah G. Morang, LLC in 2018. 

In 2022, Sarah joined Jack Frierson to form the firm Frierson & Morang, LLC.

Sarah is a member of the Fiduciary Law Section of the Georgia Bar. Her practice focuses on serving clients with needs in estate planning, probate, estate administration, business, and real estate.  She works with individuals and families in estate planning matters including wills, trusts, non-probate planning, probate, and estate administration. Her business practice focuses on forming corporations and limited liability companies and advising clients on business and real estate transactions, including leasing, purchase and sale, and management.
